In the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Métabetchouan–Lac-à-la-Croix is a district. Métabetchouan, on the shores of Lac Saint-Jean near the mouth of the small Couchepaganiche River, and Lac-à-la-Croix, on Cross Lake, make up the settlement.
The Parish and Village Municipalities of Saint-Jérôme combined in 1975 to create Métabetchouan, a new city named after the township and the nearby Métabetchouane River. The Municipality of Lac-à-la-Croix was formed the following year when the Parish Municipality of Sainte-Croix and the Village Municipality of Lac-à-la-Croix merged. The City of Métabetchouan and the Municipality of Lac-à-la-Croix merged on January 6, 1999, to create the new city of Métabetchouan–Lac-à-la-Croix.
